Mock Tests

Y5 11+ MOCK TESTS (3 HOURS)

The mock tests cover all 4 aspects of the 11+ style test including:
English
Verbal Reasoning
Non-verbal Reasoning
Maths

They are set out in a realistic fashion.

Once the mocks are completed detailed feedback will be provided and one to one lessons can be offered to go over problem areas.
Mock papers can be returned.

The mocks take 3hrs which include a short break between the two papers.

Aldridge Rd, Streetly B74 2DU ***

***PLEASE ARRIVE BETWEEN 8:50 and 8:55AM. The test will begin at 9:00am.***

***You will need***
- 3 HB pencils
- A rubber
- A clear pencil case
- A healthy snack for the break and some water

Mock Test – Helpful Tips and Advice

To help your child feel prepared and confident, here are a few useful reminders:
- Encourage an early night to ensure they’re well-rested.
- Allow some downtime today – perhaps watch a film together
- In the morning, ensure they get up in good time and have a proper breakfast.
- Pack a healthy snack (e.g. a banana or breakfast bar) and a bottle of water.
- Pencil cases must be transparent and contain only pencils and a rubber.
- Watches are not permitted during the test.

Please talk to your child beforehand – let them know it may feel challenging but remind them to use the strategies they’ve learnt..

Y5 11+ VOCABULARY FOCUS

One of the most challenging aspects of the 11+ exam is vocabulary, accounting for around 15% of the Verbal Reasoning and English sections.

Many children find this difficult because:
- The level of language is more advanced than what they usually encounter in school.
- The words and expressions are often beyond the books they typically choose to read.

Our vocabulary workshop aims to support pupils by:
- Exploring language in a variety of contexts to deepen understanding.
- Helping children cement new words and phrases into their working memory.
- Teaching practical techniques to make recalling and using unfamiliar vocabulary easier during the test.

Y5 11+ NVR SPATIAL WORKSHOP

This workshop will concentrate on the spatial reasoning elements of the 11+ exam, covering key topics such as cube nets, block counting, adding a shape, and identifying hidden shapes. Spatial reasoning is often one of the most challenging areas for children, as it requires strong visualisation skills and the ability to mentally manipulate shapes. Through engaging activities and guided practice, this session provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop their confidence and improve their problem-solving abilities in this crucial aspect of the test.

Y5 11+ TEST SKILLS WORKSHOP (2 HOURS)

EACH WORKSHOP IS DIFFERENT

The workshops are two hours long and we aim to cover all four aspects of the test.

We will look at a variety of problems and test style questions & teach / practise strategies for answering as well as using time effectively and filling out the grids.

Please note parking is restricted. Please do not park on site. You can park in the Queslett Pub & input your registration if you wish to stay or in the side roads opposite.

Y4 11+ test skills workshop

The workshops have been carefully written by Chris to cover all 4 aspects of the 11+.
Each workshop lasts 2 hours and covers the four key areas of the 11+ exam: Maths, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and English. Pupils work through a range of test-style questions, helping them become confident with the format, structure and timing of the GL assessment.

These sessions are especially valuable in the lead-up to the exam as they help children to:

Develop effective exam strategies – using efficient methods to improve accuracy and reduce errors.

Strengthen time management – practising under timed conditions to build pace and stamina.

Pinpoint strengths and gaps – with clear teacher guidance for targeted improvement.

Build confidence – regular practice in a supportive setting reduces anxiety.

Our workshops provide more than subject knowledge; they equip children with the practical skills and exam techniques needed to perform at their very best. They are a vital part of a well-rounded 11+ preparation programme.
