Our weekly English Focus Lessons are designed to support children who may find English more challenging, while building confidence, vocabulary and a deeper understanding of language.

Each week, children explore a **variety of engaging texts**, including contemporary and classic literature, non-fiction and poetry, alongside different genres. We focus on literary techniques such as **metaphors, similes, personification, assonance, oxymorons and palindromes**, helping children recognise and confidently apply these skills.

**Vocabulary is a key focus** throughout every session. Children complete short vocabulary activities, explore vocabulary-rich texts and work together to create **10 focus words each week**, building their word knowledge and confidence over time.

Regular sessions provide the opportunity to **strengthen core English skills, expand vocabulary and develop confidence with texts and language** in a supportive environment.
